HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A dog reportedly ran onboard an Aldine ISD school bus and attacked two students and the driver Wednesday morning in northwest Harris County.
The district confirmed the incident took place, saying the unleashed dog bit the students at a bus stop near 3648 Breckenridge Dr.
Aldine ISD said the bus driver honked to scare the dog away and tried to get the students on the bus to safety. District officials said the dog was able to get inside the bus for a short period.
Two students and the bus driver were said to be taken to the hospital to be checked out.
The woman who owns the dog spoke to ABC13, detailing the event. She said a kid who dog-sits her pet was playing with it before getting on the school bus.
She said the dog then followed the kid onto the bus, got excited, and bit him on the arm. The woman said the dog is an American Bully breed.
SkyEye flew over the intersection of Breckenridge and Mortimer, where medics, Aldine ISD police officers, and Harris County Public Health were seen responding.
“Animal control returned the dog to its home, and its owner was advised on protocols that must be followed to ensure the community’s safety,” the district said in a statement.
Aldine ISD added it was looking into allegations of a weapon being fired to scare off the dog during the incident but did not provide additional details.
