Cats Saunter Into Room After Owner ‘In Tears’ for Hours Searching for Them

The moment two cats waltzed into their home to find a distraught owner has gone viral on TikTok.

The footage of Blue, a Ragdoll cat, and Angel, a tabby, walking into the room has been perfectly paired with song lyrics ‘I guess you wonder where I’ve been’ by American singer-songwriter Bobby Caldwell.

At the time of writing, the video shared to an account dedicated to the pets (@blueandangel__) has amassed 1.6 million views.

The on-screen text reads: “My cats casually appearing after I searched the entire house in tears for hours.”

The clip captioned: “They always do this!” has racked up over 209,000 likes since it was posted on May, 5.

In another video, the owner states they are indoor cats but many aren’t. Cat’s Protection, a U.K. charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming strays, states domestic cats enjoy outdoor adventures, which is a common behavior, especially when they sense disturbances or detect the potential for food elsewhere.

It is typical for cats to enter and exit the house throughout the day, driven by their adventurous nature. Concerns arise when a cat does not return by evening, which can understandably lead to worry about a missing pet.

It is essential, however, not to panic prematurely as cats often return home after several days without any signs of distress, appearing perfectly healthy and unaware of the concern they may have caused.

In 2012, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals surveyed 1,000 pet-owning households across the country to find out more about lost pets. It found that 15 percent of respondents had lost a dog or cat in the previous five years and 85 percent of those lost dogs and cats were recovered.

However, cat owners were less likely to find their cats—only 74 percent of lost felines were recovered, while 93 percent of lost dogs were reunited with their owners.

What To Do If You Can’t Find Your Cat

If you are searching for a missing cat, you should follow these tips provided by Cat’s Protection:

• Begin by searching small spaces in your home, such as cupboards, garden sheds, and garages.
• Ask neighbors to check their properties too and reach out to your animal shelters to check if your cat has been found.
• Notify all local vet practices.
• Distribute flyers with your cat’s photo and description around your neighborhood and through neighbors’ letterboxes.
• Post a description of your cat on your Facebook page and in local community groups.
