Rescue over capacity

“The volume is just too great at the moment to help everyone.”

A Summerland animal rescue is using every available space in their area to help care for the massive amount of kittens and cats in need of help, and they have no more room.

Lori Huot-Stewart, president of Critteraid Animal Sanctuary, said they currently have over 80 cats and three nursing mamas, with another rescue expecting babies soon.

“We wish to apologize in advance to anyone needing assistance, but we are over capacity, and at this moment, we have to say, no. If it’s an emergency, please contact Fairfield Animal Hospital,” she said.

“The newborn kittens are unvaccinated, they do require secured areas with restricted access to humans and with no outside contact, so these cats and these entire rooms, they’re utilized by just them.”

With the volume the rescue currently has, Huot-Stewart said they expect to have two months of restrictions.

“Again, the utopia world is all the cats are spayed and neutered. Please take a moment and Google what street cats and street animals go through. It’s all preventable, and would free up space in our sanctuary so we would be able to assist you when you are in need,” she added.

If you are considering an addition to your family, all of the cats are adoptable. Email [email protected] attention, Searching for Saviors, and the rescue will set up a meet and greet.
