Kamloops man, dog found dead: RCMP

Mounties in Kamloops are investigating the death of a man and his dog in a recreational area south of the city on Saturday.

Police say they were called to the area near Inks Lake in the Logan Lake Community Forest at around 2:40 p.m., where they found a man in his 50s and his large dog deceased not far from his green Ford Explorer SUV.

According to the RCMP, the man was last seen leaving his home in Kamloops with his dog and vehicle on Friday at around 2 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Sascha Fesenko of the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment says the circumstances of the man’s death are unknown and remain under investigation.

“The area the deceased was located in is known for recreational activities, such as hiking and dirt biking. We’re hopeful someone saw the man or his truck and will contact police with any information that may be related,” said Fesenko.

Mounties say multiple police teams have been brought in to investigate, as well as the BC Coroners Service

Police ask anyone who may have seen the man’s vehicle on Friday or Saturday, or anyone with any information related to the matter to call the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800.
