Sea Of Thieves: Best Fishing Spots

Sea Of Thieves is a bright and vibrant multiplayer experience that lets the player explore the vastness of uncharted waters from a first-person perspective, in search of glory as a pirate in an open-world setting. It was released as an Xbox exclusive by Rare and received mixed reviews at first. In contrast to the rocky release, the game has improved over time and is now a robust experience, including much-loved activities, like fishing.

10 A Pirate’s Trusty Ship

Sea Of Thieves: Best Fishing Spots

The beauty of open worlds is that the world is there for the taking. Sometimes, it isn’t just about knowing where to go but rather familiarizing oneself with their surroundings, so that actions are guided by instinct and taken confidently. Explore the seas to know where the best or rarest fish are likely to be caught with a pirate’s best friend, their ship.

Discovering a shipwreck may be an opportunity to catch wreckers, a storm may bring about stormfish, or players might be surprised by a Megalodon or Kraken just waiting to be sold for unbound wealth at Sea Posts.

Worried about navigating dangerous storms in chase of a rare stormfish but ending up with a common, making the entire trip and effort not worth it? It can be a chore to take on a difficult expedition for valuable loot but seeing those efforts go in vain.

Luckily, storms in this area are almost guaranteed to have spawns of a very rare type of stormfish, the Shadows. So set sail, dock up, and keep an eye on the ship while waiting for loot to munch on the fishing lines.

8 Mermaid’s Hideaway

Feeling secure and relaxed when indulging in a tranquil activity like fishing is always nice. To be rudely interrupted by PVE enemies is an occurrence surely not welcome by anyone. Mermaid’s Hideaway is one of the best spots to fish due to the safety it provides.

The pond has a rock formation in the middle which means enemies won’t spawn on top of players to ruin their fun. Additionally, the area offers four types of fish for the taking: Plentifins, Splashtails, Islehoppers, and Pondies.

7 Rowboat

Now the rowboat isn’t exactly a fishing spot but is a complement to every good spot players have. Fishing is a game of patience, it takes time, time that can also allow some enemies to spawn and ruin the mood. The rowboat allows players to stay off land while staying on location to catch their desired fish.

Apart from increased safety, the rowboat also boosts storage space if players want to make their trip more productive. After all, after being so patient, the haul better be worth it, enough to make a wealthy pirate.

6 The Crow’s Nest Fortress Pond

Forts are a place of chaos, but sometimes in the eye of the storm, there’s loot to be found. So if players find themselves on an active fort with some time on their hands, they should let their crew deal with the skeletons while they cast their line to hook a good one.

Active forts are the only places other than skeleton ships to find Battlegills. Another special feature of this location is the pond in the middle, which spawns the rarest form of Pondies, Bright Pondies.

5 East Of Cursewater Shores

Hunting for a Devilfish can be a bit of an adrenaline rush. The effort and patience the journey and fishing entails are made worse by the risk of losing a haul in a sunken ship caused by a stray rock from a nearby volcanic eruption.

They don’t say “high risk, high reward” for nothing, but that doesn’t mean players have to seek out risk. If players head towards the east of this island, they will find themselves safe from volcanic eruptions with plenty of Devilfish to hook.

4 Crook’s Hollow

Islehoppers can be a bit of a drag to catch, even if they don’t need bait. This is made harder by the fact that the rarest of Islehoppers, the Raven, has a very small chance of spawning, except for in Crook’s Hollow, where even though not every catch will be an Islehopper, every Islehopper will be a Raven.

Players are advised to familiarize themselves with the area first so that they know their spawns, and then fish during the day. This is the best fishing spot to get around the rare chances of finding Raven Islehoppers in other areas.

3 Shores Of Gold

Shores Of Gold In Sea Of Thieves

Even though occasionally some skeletons may spawn, the Shores of Gold is a relatively peaceful location to fish in, away from all the chaos, on grand, beautiful, and tranquil waters reaching the horizons.

Fish will continuously spawn in and out to ensure that every time players throw that line in, there is a fish to hook. While players fish, this location is a great place to catch treacherous plunder along the way.

2 Outposts

Outpost In Sea Of Thieves

In a way, outposts are like a hub for fishing. Players are spawned in on an outpost whenever they load the game. Pirates love to set sail for the high seas, but this is a way to cut the effort to travel. Resources like food and wood are acquired easily here.

There are plenty of places to dig for all kinds of bait. Players can acquire bait and then just get right to it. Another benefit to fishing right after spawning is that players usually spawn far away from the action, so they have some peaceful time on their hands.

1 Sea Posts

Sea Post In Sea Of Thieves

Sea posts are a great spot to catch fish because players can sell their haul right away. There are sea posts found all across the map. The great thing about them is that they are hit by storms as well, giving players the chance to catch rarer fish.

There is no danger from PVE enemies here. Sea posts are also not known to have a lot of PVP action, so players can expect a wonderful fishing experience.

Sea Of Thieves is available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
